Graduation is an important milestone in the academic journey of every student at Mildmay Institute of Health Sciences (MIHS). Graduands are required to complete all necessary academic, financial, and administrative requirements before they can participate in the graduation ceremony.
Clearance with Relevant Units
All graduands are required to complete the clearance process with the relevant MIHS offices and units before participating in the graduation ceremony.
Depending on the requirements applicable to their programme, graduands may be required to clear with offices including:
- Academic Registrar's Office
- Finance/Accounts Office
- Library
- Student Affairs
- Heads of Schools/Departments
- Any other relevant Institute unit
Graduands should ensure that all outstanding academic, financial, library, and institutional obligations are cleared within the communicated timelines.

Graduands should download, complete, and submit the official MIHS Graduation Clearance Form as instructed by the Academic Registrar's Office.

Graduation Fees
Graduands are required to pay the applicable graduation fees within the specified period. The fees cover the services and materials associated with the graduation ceremony and processing of graduation documents.
The applicable graduation fees and payment instructions will be communicated by the MIHS Finance/Accounts Office and the Academic Registrar's Office.
Important: Graduands should only make graduation-related payments through the official MIHS payment channels. Do not make payments to individuals or unofficial accounts.
Graduation Fees
- 350,000 UGX - For all graduands from ALL programs
- 120,000 UGX - For graduands of Short and Professional courses
Graduation Gowns
All graduands participating in the graduation ceremony are required to wear the official MIHS graduation gown and academic attire prescribed for the ceremony.
Graduands will be provided with information on:
- Graduation gown fees
- Where and how to make payment
- Gown collection dates
- Gown return arrangements
- Appropriate academic dress for the ceremony
Graduands are advised to collect their gowns within the communicated period and return them as instructed after the ceremony.
Invitation Cards
Each graduand will be provided with information regarding graduation invitation cards for parents, guardians, sponsors, and other invited guests.
The number of guests permitted to attend the graduation ceremony will be communicated by MIHS ahead of the ceremony.
Graduands are encouraged to share the invitation details with their guests in good time to facilitate smooth access to the graduation grounds.
Professional Oath and Pledge
Where applicable, graduands from programmes requiring a professional oath or pledge will be required to participate in the relevant ceremony as prescribed by their professional regulatory requirements.
The Academic Registrar's Office and respective Schools will communicate the applicable oath, pledge, schedule, and requirements to affected graduands.
Graduation Ceremony Requirements
All graduands are expected to:
- Complete the required clearance before the graduation ceremony.
- Settle all applicable graduation fees.
- Collect and wear the prescribed academic gown and attire.
- Attend the graduation ceremony at the designated venue and time.
- Follow instructions from the graduation organizing committee.
- Observe appropriate conduct throughout the ceremony.
- Return hired graduation attire as instructed.
Prohibited Items at the Graduation Ceremony
For the safety, security, and smooth running of the graduation ceremony, certain items may not be permitted at the venue.
These may include:
- Firearms and other weapons
- Alcoholic beverages
- Dangerous or hazardous materials
- Chemicals or flammable substances
- Large bags or luggage
- Canned or packaged food and drinks
- Glass or other potentially dangerous containers
- Other items restricted by the graduation organizing committee or venue security
Graduands and guests should comply with all security requirements and instructions issued before and during the ceremony.
Important Notice to Graduands
Graduands are advised to carefully follow all official graduation communications from MIHS. Information regarding clearance deadlines, fees, gown collection, invitation cards, rehearsal, ceremony arrangements, and other requirements will be communicated through the appropriate official channels.
